Chocolate Orange Oats

Chocolate Orange Oats

Chocolate orange for breakfast? Why not?

prep time 5 mins total time 10-15 mins serves 2


ingredients

  • 1 cup (128g) oats

  • 1 cup (250ml) plant milk

  • 1 cup (250ml)water

  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder

  • Juice and zest of an orange

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • (Optional) Dark chocolate

 

method

  1. Add all ingredients (minus the toppings) to a pan, and continuously stir over a low heat.

  2. Keep stirring the oats over low heat until all the liquid is absorbed.

  3. Pour into a bowl, sprinkle over some zest, a few blocks of chocolate or cocoa powder, and your Vegan Chocolate Orange Oats are ready to for you to dive in!


notes

  • A great recipe for those of you with a sweet tooth, who want a more exciting variation on traditional porridge (I mean, it’s basically dessert).

  • The toppings at the end are entirely optional, but I really like the tangy hit of zest, and how the chocolate melts into the porridge, creating a vegan bowl of goodness.
