Chocolate orange for breakfast? Why not?

  • 1 cup oats

  • 1 cup plant milk

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 tbsp cocoa powder

  • Juice and zest of an orange

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • 1 tsp vanilla

  • 1 tbsp maple syrup

  • (Optional) Dark chocolate

  1. Add all ingredients (minus the toppings) to a pan, and continuously stir over a low heat.

  2. Keep stirring the oats over low heat until all the liquid is absorbed.

  3. Pour into a bowl, sprinkle over some zest, a few blocks of chocolate or cocoa powder, and dive in!


  • A great recipe for those of you with a sweet tooth, who want a more exciting variation on traditional porridge (I mean, it’s basically dessert).

  • The toppings at the end are entirely optional, but I really like the tangy hit of zest, and how the chocolate melts into the porridge.
